This birthday feels different.
On September 10, I turn 50 years old. I’m also celebrating 25 years as a business owner and five years of calling Puerto Vallarta home.
Three milestones. One unforgettable celebration. And more gratitude than I could possibly fit into a Facebook post—so naturally, I wrote a whole article.
When I look back over the last 50 years, I don’t just see birthdays, business deals, performances, successes, or titles. I see a life filled with reinvention.
I see every risk I took when there was no guarantee it would work. I see every mistake that taught me something I clearly refused to learn the easy way. I see the businesses I built, the opportunities I created, the people I helped, and the moments when I had to start over.
I also see the difficult seasons—the ones that tested me, humbled me, and forced me to decide whether I would stay down or get back up.
And baby, I got back up.
25 Years as a Business Owner
Being in business for 25 years has taught me that entrepreneurship is not for the weak, the easily offended, or anyone who needs everything to go according to plan.
There have been incredible wins. There have also been lessons with invoices attached.
But through every season, I kept building.
I kept creating.
I kept helping people recognize their value, reinvent their lives, fund their businesses, strengthen their brands, and stop playing small.
Twenty-five years later, I am still dreaming, launching, creating, performing, consulting, and finding new ways to do entirely too much—all while making it look fabulous.
That alone is worth celebrating.
Five Years in Puerto Vallarta
Then there is Puerto Vallarta.
Five years ago, this city became my home. I could never have fully understood how much it would change me.
Puerto Vallarta has given me community, friendship, music, opportunity, laughter, and a deeper sense of freedom. It has allowed me to become more of myself—not the version other people expected, but the version that feels honest, complete, creative, and alive.
This is the place where I think I have been the happiest I have ever been.
There is something powerful about waking up in a place that makes your spirit feel lighter. There is something beautiful about being surrounded by people, culture, music, color, and energy that remind you that life is meant to be lived—not merely survived.
Puerto Vallarta didn’t just give me somewhere to live. It gave me another chapter.
And now I get to celebrate my 50th birthday here, surrounded by people I love, in the city that helped me rediscover joy.
That means more to me than I can properly explain.
Gratitude for Making It This Far
Turning 50 is not something I take lightly.
I have so much gratitude for simply making it this far.
Gratitude for every person who loved me.
Gratitude for the people who supported my businesses, attended my performances, shared my work, spoke my name in rooms I wasn’t in, encouraged me, challenged me, and reminded me of who I was whenever I temporarily forgot.
I’m grateful for the doors that opened and even for some of the doors that slammed directly in my face. Those closed doors redirected me toward places, people, and opportunities I might never have discovered otherwise.
I’m grateful for the wisdom that only comes from living long enough to know better—and finally being grown enough to occasionally act like it.
Most of all, I’m grateful that I am still here.
Still singing.
Still building.
Still dreaming.
Still loving.
Still laughing.
Still doing the absolute most.
And don’t worry—there is a whole other century to go!
Come Celebrate With Me
On Thursday, September 10, I’m celebrating all of it at La Catrina Cantina in Zona Romántica, Puerto Vallarta.
I’ll be taking the stage at 8:00 PM as your Neo-Soul Daddy, performing all-new music and celebrating 50 years of life with good friends, dancing, laughter, fun, foolishness, and whatever else happens once Daddy gets a microphone.
Event Details
Thursday, September 10
Showtime: 8:00 PM
La Catrina Cantina
Zona Romántica, Puerto Vallarta
If you are in town, come party with me.
Come early, grab a drink, bring your friends, enjoy the music, and help me celebrate five years in Puerto Vallarta, 25 years in business, and 50 extraordinary years on this earth.
And yes, I will be giving out free hugs.
Life is worth celebrating. Surviving is worth celebrating. Reinvention is worth celebrating. Making it to a place where you can finally look around and say, “I am happy,” is absolutely worth celebrating.
I hope you’ll be there.
